Bana Pele
Privacy policy
Last updated 18 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Bana Pele (banapele.org) handles, and your rights under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
The short version
You can read everything on this site without telling us who you are. We only collect what you choose to send us through the Join form or by email, and use it only for the Bana Pele movement. The site sets no cookies and does not track you.
What we collect
- When you join the movement. Your name, email address, organisation, and anything else you choose to tell us in the form (your website, where you work, how you’d like to help, the actions you’re interested in and your message).
- When you email us. Your email address and whatever you include, at admin@banapele.org.
- No cookies, no tracking. The site stores nothing in your browser and uses no advertising or tracking services.
- Technical logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) briefly processes technical information such as your IP address and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use this to identify you.
How we use it
The Bana Pele Secretariat uses your details to contact you about joining the movement, to find where your organisation can help, and to keep you informed about Bana Pele. We do not sell your information or share it with anyone outside the movement’s work without your permission.
How long we keep it
We keep your details for as long as you are part of the movement, or until you ask us to remove them.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask whether we hold personal information about you, ask for a copy of it, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email admin@banapele.org. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Regulator.
